On March 13, 2023, a presentation of the educational module "Migration Policy of the European Union" was held at the Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project 101085024-EUMP-ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH to students of the educational programs "International Relations" and "World Economy".

Project coordinator, senior lecturer, master E.S. Syzdykbekov, members of the working group associate professor, PhD S.T. Abeuova, PhD G.M. Baigozhina acquainted the students with the purpose and objectives of the module.

Organization and delivery of training sessions on the course "EU Migration Policy"

Year 1: March 13, 2023 – May 5, 2023

Year 2: October 23, 2023 – December 15, 2023

Year 3: February 24, 2025 – April 26, 2025

Conducting training seminars "Recommendations for completing an application under the Erasmus + Jean Monnet program" at universities in the Karaganda region (Kazpotrebsoyuz University and E.A. Buketov Karaganda University).

In order to successfully disseminate knowledge about the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module program, increase the visibility and impact of the project, and facilitate knowledge sharing for a wide range of stakeholders, the participants of the project "Migration Policy of the European Union" Erasmus+ Jean Monnet 101085024-EUMP–ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH held a training seminar at the Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov.

On December 28, 2022, PhD G.M. Baigozhina spoke at the Pedagogical Faculty of the Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov on the topic "Rules for filing an Erasmus + Jean Monnet Module application".

The seminar aroused great interest among the faculty. As a result, the teachers applied for the 2023 competition.
Successful dissemination of knowledge about the project is essential to achieve the intended objectives and ensure that its results reach a wide audience. On January 20, 2023, a seminar was held for the faculty of the Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz within the framework of the module "Migration Policy of the European Union" Erasmus+ Jean Monnet 101085024-EUMP-ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH.

PhD G.M. Baigozhina conducted a training seminar on the topic "Rules for filing an application for the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module".

The participants of the seminar asked many questions, which demonstrated their interest. As a result, the teachers submitted 2 applications for the 2023 competition.


Final Exam. May 3-5, 2023.

As part of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project 101085024-EUMP–ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH "THE EUROPEAN UNION MIGRATION POLICY," the project working group, E.S. Syzdykbekov, S.T. Abeuova, and G.M. Baigozhina, delivered lectures at Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz from March 13 to May 5, 2023.

Upon completion of the course, students from the "World Economy" and "International Relations" programs successfully passed the exam in the form of group project defenses.

The course results (exam results, questionnaires, and certificate presentation) were presented on the department's account @meimo.karuk and the university's account @official_karuk, as well as on Instagram.
Group Project Defense on European Union Migration Policy:
1) "The Historical Context of Migration in the European Union." Prepared by students Anton Kwasniewski, Vladislav Nefedov, Amalia Bislinger, and Alexandra Zhilyaeva;
2) "Forming of the EU Common Migration Policy," prepared by students Karina Mukasheva, Nargiz Gadzhieva, Nuraiym Sagidullaeva, and Tomiris Aksanova;
3) "Freedom of Movement and Labor Mobility in the EU." Prepared by students Karina Aubakirova, Timur Iskaleev, and Farid Mamutov;
4) "The EU Asylum Policy," prepared by students Daria Logacheva, Anastasia Koptsova, Timur Kurubaev, and Artem Smirnov.
The defense of the final qualifying papers of the students of the OP “World Economy”, which were the result of a lot of work by students and teachers within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module projects.

The defenses were held to a high academic and organizational standard. We are proud of our graduates, including E. Meshtybayeva, who presented on "New Trends in the Migration Policy of the European Union," and K. Ostanina, who covered "Gender Aspects of the European Union's Migration Policy," both supervised by S.T. Abeuova. Their research showcased deep theoretical knowledge and practical skills, reflecting contemporary European approaches and best practices in migration policy.

Our esteemed examination committee was comprised of leading faculty members, university department staff, and representatives from the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken".

These successful defenses serve as a testament to our university's integration into the global educational community. The Erasmus+ programme empowers our students to acquire cutting-edge knowledge, enhance their cross-cultural skills, and become competitive professionals ready for the global job market.

On 10 December 2024, the participants of the working group took part in the Erasmus+ Information Day, organized by the National Erasmus+ Office in Kazakhstan with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
An international roundtable discussion on "EU Migration Policy: Application Potential and Adaptation Challenges in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was organized and held on October 18, 2023.

The roundtable was attended online by Kazakh and international scholars, experts, representatives of national offices of international organizations (IOM and OSCE), government officials with expertise in migration matters, and faculty and students from the Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz and partner universities in Kazakhstan.

Professors from partner universities also participated in the roundtable, including the University of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" (Bulgaria), Anadolu University (Turkey), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Karaganda University named after Buketov, Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after B. Beisenov, and KazUMR and WL named after Ablai Khan.

Special thanks go to Mr. Z. Gadzhieva, Head of the IOM Mission for Central Asia, and Mr. Nuraddin Murshudlu, Head of the Economic and Environmental Dimension Department of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana.

On May 23, 2025, the Jean Monnet Auditorium – Office 303 b – was ceremonially opened.
